Great Dane Trailers was established in 1958 as a small steel fabricating company and evolved into the world’s number one trailer manufacturer company. Today Great Dane Trailers designs and manufactures dry freight, refrigerated, and platform trailers in addition to selling trailer parts as well as the re-sale of used trailers. Those products are marketed through company-owned branches and dealer networks across both North and South America.
Great Dane Trailers hired Rogers Mechanical Contractors to design and build its 100 acre, $23 million refrigerated trailer manufacturing facility in Statesboro, Georgia. The turn-key production operation employs over 400 people and can produce more than 5,000 trailers per year. The facility covers 453,000 SF and includes 24 bridge cranes and three monorail lines. Rogers used a unique hybrid design that combines a conventional steel structure with pre-engineered components and concrete tilt walls. The manufacturing facility is climate controlled using a client-specified evaporative cooling system and push/pull exhaust fans that enable four air exchanges per hour. In addition, 124 isolated concrete equipment foundations reduce transmission of harmonic vibrations to the adjacent structure.
